According to the head of the National Dialogue Party, Mr. Fouad Makhzoumi, the delicate condition of the state institutions calls for wisdom in the upcoming appointments to fill managerial positions as well as the total abandonment of personal interests. Mr. Makhzoumi commented that the interests of the nation are greater than all other interests and that a strong nation can only be built on a successful and fair administration. He called on the Lebanese Parliament to pass laws that aim to fight corruption and increase transparency.
Mr. Makhzoumi made his comments following a meeting with Mr. Nabih Berri at his home in Ain-El-Tineh during which the two men discussed internal developments.
Mr. Makhzoumi also commented that the National Dialogue Party supported all efforts to abolish political sectarianism in line with the Taef accord. He stressed the NDP's support of the new government and its efforts to enhance national unity in the face of the ongoing Israeli threats.
